Grain Storage Expansion Project Funding

North Pine Farmers’ Institute

Services Provided: The North Pine Farmers’ Institute (NPFI) is expanding its terminal in Fort St. John, BC. The Terminal Grain Bin Storage Expansion Project will add a new large grain bin at the NPFI’s existing terminal facility. This major infrastructure upgrade will boost the region's agricultural capacity and make local crop distribution much faster and easier. The project will also benefit local producers, strengthen local food security, and create jobs.

Clear Course worked with NPFI to secure $1.72 million from four funding programs. Clear Course and NPFI collaborated on identifying aligned funding opportunities, formulating a funding strategy, writing grant proposals, and managing online submissions.

Outcome: Funding for the project has been secured from four separate funders:

  • Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT) Economic Development program – $300,000

  • South Peace Mackenzie Trust – $250,000

  • BC Hydro & NDIT, Opportunities and Initiatives Fund – $770,000

  • BC Peace River Development Council, Grain Industry Levy Funding – $400,000

  • Pacifican, Regional Tariff Response Initiative – $2,000,000 (PENDING)

North Pine Farmer’s Institute elevator committee chair, Martin Moore, and NPFI president, Wade Cusack, stated that “the benefits from this project will be realized by many producers throughout our region and will contribute to providing additional stability and security for the people who diligently work in the fields to produce crops to ship outside the Peace.”

It’s been just over a year since we started working with Clear Course and our relationship has been great. We have a big project we would like to do and have had great success with the grant writer Monica Sander Burns. Monica was quick to jump into our project and worked tirelessly on our behalf to get applications done and in on time. I would encourage any group to use Clear Course for their grant writing services.
