Services Provided: In 2023, Clear Course partnered with Landscope to provide grant services (including proposal writing, grant management, and reporting) to communities seeking wildfire resiliency funding. Funding programs include the Union of BC Municipalities’ Community Resiliency Investment (CRI) Program and First Nations’ Emergency Services Society’s On-Reserve Wildfire Resiliency Program. This work is ongoing and includes maintaining centralized project tracking systems, writing grant proposals, coordinating interim and final reports for community projects, and supporting communications between program partners and funders to ensure projects remain aligned and on track.
Outcome: Through this collaboration, Landscope and Clear Course have supported 19 Indigenous and rural municipal communities with securing more than $4.29 million in funding for wildfire resiliency initiatives. The work has resulted in multiple approved funding applications and sustained program delivery over multiple years, ensuring that projects progress efficiently from concept to implementation.
Support has been provided to both first-time applicants and communities that have already received past funding from the CRI and On-Reserve programs. Clear Course has worked with each community to tailor their applications to meet eligibility requirement, refine project budgets, and respond to funder feedback. The following projects have been supported with wildfire resiliency funding:
community FireSmart education and engagement
critical infrastructure, home ignition zone, and culturally significant site and green space assessments and mitigation programs
emergency preparedness planning
interagency collaboration
training initiatives
community wildfire resiliency plans
forest fuel management
cultural/prescribed burning activities
Together, Clear Course and Landscope have supported communities with building long-term capacity, strengthening their wildfire resilience, and creating meaningful employment opportunities in rural and Indigenous communities.
